As of May 31, 2025, Ukraine officially reinstated standard deadlines for all intellectual property-related actions, ending the temporary procedural relief granted during martial law.

A new law providing restoration of the standard deadlines that were suspended by the Law “On protection of IP interests of persons during the Martial Law”. The new law comes into force on May 31, 2025.

What does this mean for IP owners?:

• All previously suspended deadlines resumed on May 31, 2025.
• A 75-day transitional grace period -lasting until August 14, 2025 – was granted to: pay outstanding renewal and maintenance fees, respond to office actions, submit oppositions and perform other procedural actions without penalties.

We strongly encouraged all IP rights holders to review their Ukrainian IP portfolios and take appropriate action before the grace period expired.
